Transferring Credits From The Defense Language Institute?
I already have an AA degree in Sociology from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida. Soon, Im gonna be attending the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California and getting another AA degree in a foreign Language. Can I transfer credits from my AA at the Defense Language Institute to a Bachelors degree? ANY information would help. Thank you in Advance.

Yes, you can, but different schools have different policies. Excelsior College has a very generous program that gives you upper level credit based on your final DLPT scores at the end of the course, as well as what category your language is in (like cat 4 for Arabic, Chinese, etc). How many you get depends on how well you do, but I’m Arabic, and I ended up with a 2 on listening, 2+ on reading, and a 1+ on speaking. I think that gave me about 23 upper division credits, but it might be a little more. Excelsior College only requires 30 upper division credits on a Bachelors so with that you’re almost all the way there.
